Thought of the Week - Starting a family right after marriage?

Published by carolinecloutier at 11:15 am under Advice, Uncategorized Edit This

bab.jpgSome couples cannot wait to begin a family right after getting married. To some, having children means completing the circle of love created by marriage and can only be the most precious gift given to them after they have said their vows. Children are a blessing and creating life between two people is the most amazing ability we human beings have.

On another note, some couples choose to wait for a family. Getting married can change the dynamics of a relationship and some wish to get used to the idea of ’joining as one’ before another little human being is brought into the equation.  Not only this, but getting married, possibly purchasing a house and paying off other debts together can already create stress on a young couple. Having children does cost money and can also possibly take away the important time a newly married couple needs together.

In the end starting a family sooner than later after marriage is definitely a personal choice between the two people involved.

Yes It is, but for us we went into marriage with the idea that in 3 years we will consider kids and 5 year we will. Well, after living the proverbial jet set life for seven years then we started our family… And start we did, we now have four.

We always looked at it like we wanted to have fun on our own before we got to have fun with a family…

Does that mean we did it right? Well, we did get 7 years alone to really get to know each other before the kids… and this October will be our 17 year anniversary. Yet, I really think it just depend on the couple. What works for us might not work for you.
