Reflections of True Style - Invitations

invite2.jpgIt’s only a few months until the wedding and you must now concentrate on the invitations!

Believe it or not, that one little piece of paper your guests will be receiving in the mail, will be providing a glimpse to what your style and theme will be on the big day. For some, this will also be a revealing opportunity to know what to wear!

Thinking of style, colour and yes even price, customizing your invitations is definitely a trend that is not appearing to stop anytime soon.  Bold colours and patterns are taking the place of white and ivory. Colours such as red, bright blue, bright green, tropical orange, royal purple and sunny yellow are top notch colours to send out to your guests. It may be a good idea to set the tone for your wedding using the same or similar colours you will be using on the day. For me personally, my colours are a deep garnet colour. The invitations I’m sending out are white with a red trim and tied with a red ribbon. Just enough touch of colour without going over the top. Also don’t be afraid to include different shapes. If you are having a destination wedding, why not send an invite in the shape of a flip flop? Or a sand castle?

Think about the type of font you would like. I’m having a classy affair, so I’m thinking about going with a brushed script or perhaps an italic? Instead of going to a professional caligrapher, think about using computerized fonts. They are cheaper and look just as nice.

To save money, think about purchasing your invitations through a craft store like Michaels or a business stores like Staples. Each location have plenty of styles to choose from for a very low price. Packages include the invitation, reply card and envelopes. For only $1 each, you can create your own. You can always add extra accents such as ribbon, bows and fabric. Remeber to purchase the right size. Some sizes require additional postage and can therefore increase your budget.

Really though, remember to have fun with this part. Whether you are creating the invitations yourself or having someone create them for you, be sure to use your own style and flair. Invitations are fun and can be very simple. Plus they will be a great thing to add to your scrapbook when it’s all said and done.
