Thought of the Week - Kids at Reception?

Published by carolinecloutier at 8:30 pm under Advice Edit This

Deciding to have or not to have kids at your wedding reception can be a daunting decision!

Some people would rather not have kids at their reception, believing their wedding reception is a party for adults. With open bars, long speeches and a late night, some don’t think it is appropriate for kids to be present. Depending on the age, will they appreciate the meaning of the day? Will they cause a disturbance during the all important speeches? And will the parents have to leave the party early? All are some factors into why couples decide not to include kids on the invitations.

On the other hand, some couples have no problem inviting kids to their wedding reception. Some believe a wedding is a family gathering and should therefore be celebrated by all. Not offending family and friends by not including their children is the option of choice.

What are your thoughts? Should kids be included at the reception?
