The wedding is approaching!

Published by carolinecloutier at 10:43 am under Uncategorized Edit This

The countdown is officially on! I’m getting married in less than a week and I’m overcome with the upcoming wedding jitters. Not that I am getting cold feet but it’s nerve wracking to think that 150 people will be staring at me as I walk down the aisle. I’ll have my dad at my side though and I’ll be holding on tight!

Why is it though that these jitters creep up on what is going to be the happiest day of my life? I’m literally waking up with butterflies at 4a.m. for the past week and I find myself becoming one of those brides wondering why the rest of the world isn’t as happy or jittery about this day as I am! I keep bringing myself down to earth by remembering this is MY happy day and not everyone will be as excited as me. But still this is a once in a life event (well I certainly hope it is).

Curing the wedding jitters is a must if I want to get down that aisle. Here are some steps I’m taking to calm myself down before the big day!

1.       I’m remembering why I’m marrying my fiancé in the first place! I haven’t been planning this special day for nothing! This is one special day but we are also building a whole marriage.

2.       I’m telling everyone, especially my fiancé, just how nervous I am. By keeping communication open, I’m also opening the door so he can share his feeling as well. It turns out we are both nervous!

3. I’m taking the time to distress myself. I’m not allowing myself to get stressed at work or at home, I’m finding quiet moments to take deep breaths to calm myself down and I’m relaxing with my fiancé as much as possible before the chaos begins.

4. I’m staying healthy! Ok I’ll admit it’s only this week I’ve decided to eat healthy and not drink alcohol. Hey my stagette was only last weekend! Seriously though, by eating well and drinking plenty of fluids, I should feel my best when the day arrives.

5.  I’m delegating some of the tasks. My mom has been extremely helpful and now I’m sending some of the tasks to my maids of honours and other family members. Everyone is willing to help so why not?  I’m allowing myself to enjoy every moment.  This is my one time to be a bride so I’d better enjoy it!
